Train in Coleraine ...
Hi! This is a log of my running from December 2002 onwards. I started it as a diary of my training for the 2003 London marathon (see below), but I have decided to continue with it even after the marathon. I think it helps motivate me and gives me focus.
I'm now planning to run a half marathon! Training started in April 2005. I hope to run in Berlin at the end of August, if the training goes well.
I'm very lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world where there are many great places to run. I'll be doing most of my running on the wet sand on the local beaches. I've had some muscle problems, torn two calf muscles in the past 18 months (2001-02), so I want to avoid running on hard surfaces until my legs grow stronger. (Also I'm about 20 pounds heavier than I was 13 years ago, when I ran my last marathon.
My trainer. He goes by the name of MC, Tartuffe, Alphonse, Pee Poo (Petit Puce - little flea), or even Rover!
I did a lot of running in the 1980s, but somehow, for various reasons, I gradually ran less and less. I hope to change that now.
I've a good incentive - a very energetic red setter, who needs a lot of daily exercise.

My London Marathon Story...
This morning I opened an envelope and found an acceptance letter for my application to run in the 2003 London Marathon!
I had almost forgotten about it - I had sent in the application form back in September, and had given up on it by now.
Anyway... I was really excited. There should be enough time to get into serious (!) training, and maybe do the trip!
Got on my kit and ran through the town, through the park and back home. Takes about 20 mins.
I will start a training log now.
Join me, by following my training logs, and see if I make it!
